I had gone in to Mark's studio to record a couple of jingle demos (see the "Capriercing" tracks on the Hip Products album). Luckily they were easy to sing, as I was battling a bad sore throat. Mark decides I should record an album of my songs, live with an acoustic guitar. A worthy Quixotic challenge! There is a fear of conservatism that runs through this set of songs, mostly treated sardonically through the eyes of the fascist aggressors. These date from the waning years of the eye-opening W era (we had much to learn) and ideas of Gnosticism (thanks mainly to Elaine Pagels' books -  a Jed recommendation, one of many) loomed large in my psyche.
