More an EP than a proper album (or a true album SIDE?), Jazzers Monument presents a few examples of what I was offering up jazz-wise in those days before The Greg Samo One-tet. The master genre of jazz may be the only thread that holds these pieces together: "Haunted Rhodes" is a minimalist piece for keys, "Kid About It" is an Elvis Costello cover taken in a very plaintive direction in a setting for piano and two guitars, "A Night in the Drunk Tank" and "Stupefaction Supremo" are both midi performances of propulsive swing-based hard bop, and "Birdlambed" (a near homonym of Birdland) synthesizes all sorts of jazz into a cut-and-paste monster that is all its own.
