I watched a YouTube documentary about the "Amen break", that staple/cornerstone/Rhind Papyrus of DJ culture, and decided I wanted to slice up beats too. But I didn't get how doing early Reich-inspired phase experiments of stock loops wasn't the same thing. I still dig this for its singularity of mind.
